Seasonal MiNkltennnoe Start
Spring weight restrictions in
effect March 3
The Minnesota Department of Transportation
will start spring load restrictions in the
SOUTH, SOUTHEAST, AND METRO frost zones,
including Lake Elmo, on Tuesday, March 3,
2026, at 12:01 a.m.
Lake Elmo follows MNDOT's start and end
dates for the metro seasonal load limits.
View the Spring Road Maps and Lake Elmo
road restrictions
.[https://www.lakeelmo.gov/255/Road-
Restrictions].
As frost leaves the ground, roadways
become more vulnerable to damage from
heavy vehicles. Limiting axle weights during
this period helps preserve pavement
conditions, reduce costly repairs, and extend
the life of the City's transportation
infrastructure. Drivers and commercial
operators are encouraged to plan routes
accordingly and comply with posted limits.
Public Works hiring seasonal

outdoors serving the community.
The role is up to 40 hours per week, with a

Annual Arbor Day Tree
Giveaway April 25
Residents are invited to the annual tree
giveaway in Lake Elmo on April 25! Stop by
the public works building between 8 am - 10
am to help grow our urban canopy, support
sustainability, and bring home a free tree for
your yard while supplies last.
*You must be a resident of Lake Elmo to
participate.
Tree Trimming
The City will be conducting tree trimming
operations next week to maintain public
safety and protect City infrastructure.
Tree trimming is required when branches
obstruct streetlights or traffic signs, block
emergency vehicle access, are diseased, or
present an imminent threat to property or
public safety. Maintaining proper clearance
helps ensure safe travel and reliable
emergency response throughout the
community.
Residents may notice crews working in their
area and are asked to use caution around
equipment and personnel.
DNR Reminder: ice fishing
house removal deadlines
As temperatures warm and ice conditions
change, please remember that all ice fishing
houses must be removed by the following
dates:
• 11:59 pm on March 2 for inland waters in the
southern 2/3 of the state
• 11:59 pm on March 16 for inland waters in the
northern 1/3 of the state
• 11:59 pm on March 31 for Minnesota - Canada
border waters, including Lake of the Woods
Removing ice houses by the deadline helps
ensure public safety and protects our lakes
as the ice begins to deteriorate.
Thank you for doing your part to keep
Minnesota's lakes safe.
