Find meeting agendas and minutes at the City of Lake Elmo, MN [https://www.Iakeelmo.gov/agendacenter] Legislative priorities update Clark Schroeder, the City of Lake Elmo's Special Projects Manager, recently spoke at the Minnesota Legislature in support of House File 3399, a bill related to natural resources and water -use permitting. HF 3399 proposes modifying the requirements for issuing water -use permits to the City of Lake Elmo. The bill amends Laws 2023, Chapter 60, Article 4, Section 105, which authorized the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to issue the permits needed for the City to construct and operate a new municipal water supply well and to amend existing permits to increase the volume of water the City is allowed to use. Schroeder shared information about the city's long-term water planning, growth, and the importance of ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for our community. MPCA releases annual East Metro Private well sampling ti report The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has released results from recent water sampling conducted in the East Metro area. The testing is part of the state's ongoing efforts to better understand groundwater conditions and monitor water quality across the region. The sampling focused on groundwater in several East Metro communities, including Lake Elmo, and measured levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). PFAS are a group of manufactured chemicals that have been widely used in industrial processes and consumer products. State agencies are continuing to evaluate the data and work with local communities to understand the results and determine any appropriate next steps. The City will continue to coordinate with state and regional partners to stay informed and share updates with residents as more information becomes available. Master Gardener Paul Spilseth returns to share more on prairie ecosystems The Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center welcomes Washington County Master Gardener Paul Spilseth, on Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m., for a presentation called Prairie 101. This is the second in a series of programming focused on Prairie ecosystems and it provides a do-it-yourself instruction for anyone interested in creating a prairie, a natural landscape utilizing native glasses and flowers. No matter what size prairie you are interested in, from acreage to small plot, this class covers all steps of planning a preparation as well as maintenance to ensure your creation continues to thrive for years to come. This class also provides information about budget, site selection, plant or seed selection, and planting. This event is free and open to the public. The City of Lake Elmo has established irrigation zones divided into four parts of the city and allows watering on the days that reflect that zone. Watering is permitted only on your designated day, from 12:01 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., and again from 5:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., without extending into the following day. Zone A - Monday & Friday. Zone B - Tuesday & Friday. Zone C - Wednesday and Saturday. Zone D -Thursday and Sunday.
