Stay tuned for updates to help you plan ahead and travel safely! Road Projects: • Intersection of Trunk Highway 36 and Lake Elmo Avenue (County State Aid Highway 17) located in the Cities of Grant and Lake Elmo will begin construction this month, clearing trees around the highway. A preconstruction open house is set for May, and highway construction begins in June. This project will be ongoing through the fall of 2027. Visit Washington County's Road update here. • CSAH 14 (Stillwater Boulevard) will be closed to westbound traffic from 39th Street to Gorman's Restaurant. The anticipated start date of this work is May 26th and it will be in place for two months. The detour will be 39th Street to Lake Elmo Avenue. The City CA Lake Elm Pay o the HW=mjSi'-' City Leaders Met with Legislators on Capitol Hill Monday to Continue Priorities Discussion Lake Elmo Mayor Charles Cadenhead, City Administrator Nicole Miller, and Special Projects Manager Clark Schroeder recently met with state lawmakers to talk about issues that matter to our community. One key topic was funding for the Highway 36 and Lake Elmo Avenue project. This project will help make roads safer, reduce traffic, and support the city as it grows. They also talked about the city's water supply. Leaders are asking for updates to state law so the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources can more easily approve permits for new city wells. Utility Rate Adjustments Take Effect in April To support ongoing infrastructure and operations, the City Council approved utility rate adjustments effective in April: water rates will increase by 20%, sewer rates by 15%, and a stormwater service rate will be added at 8%. The average residential bill is expected to rise about 14%, or about $7 per month, based on typical usage. Save Money on Your Water Bill In partnership with the Metropolitan Council wr (Met Council) the City of Lake Elmo is offering a rebate program for purchases of eligible water -efficient products. This funding has enabled Lake Elmo to provide a rebate to current water customers who replace existing devices with specified water -efficient products, or who have an irrigation system audit completed by a professional. Qualifying purchases are eligible for a rebate on your water bill. These credits range from $150 to $500, dependent on your rebate type.
