Stay tuned for updates to help you plan ahead and travel safely! Road Projects: Intersection of Trunk Highway 36 and Lake Elmo Avenue (County State Aid Highway 17) located in the Cities of Grant and Lake Elmo will begin construction this month, clearing trees around the highway. A preconstruction open house is set for May, and highway construction begins in June. This project will be ongoing through the fall of 2027. Visit Washington County's Road update here. CSAH 14 - Stillwater Blvd Closure CSAH 14 (Stillwater Boulevard) Update: The City of Lake Elmo has retained Miller Excavating to replace an existing section of water main that is failing along Stillwater Boulevard (CSAH 14). The work will require the closure of westbound traffic from 39th Street to Lake Elmo Avenue (west of the elementary school). Stillwater Boulevard will be eastbound traffic only. All access points to side streets (Lake Elmo Avenue, Laverne Avenue, and Layton Avenue) will be open to turn onto off Stillwater Boulevard. All residential and commercial driveways that access to Stillwater Boulevard will be open during construction and accessible if traveling eastbound on Stillwater Boulevard. The work is expected to take approximately 2 months to complete (weather dependent). Island Trail Road Closure Begins Wednesday, May 6 Island Trail will be closed between Eagle Point Boulevard and 5th Street North beginning May 6, 2026, to allow for roadway and utility work related to the Inwood Townhomes development. The closure is expected to last approximately three weeks. Detour signage will be posted next week to help guide drivers and pedestrians around the work area. New Polling Location for Primary Elections Heads Up, Lake Elmo Voters! Precincts and polling locations have changed ahead of the August Primary Election. Now is a great time to check your voter registration and polling place. With the help of dedicated volunteers, the park got a much-needed refresh— making it cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable for both people and their four-legged friends. Summer Camp Spotlight We’ve added a new camp on Friday, June 27, from 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Sally’s Art Camp! Professional artist Julie Schroeder will guide campers (ages 11+) through acrylic pouring —a fun, brush-free painting technique that creates vibrant, flowing abstract designs. Campers will choose their colors, mix pouring medium, and try techniques like swirls, flip cups, and more. This funding has enabled Lake Elmo to provide a rebate to current water customers who replace existing devices with specified water-efficient products, or who have an irrigation system audit completed by a professional. Qualifying purchases are eligible for a rebate on your water bill. These credits range from $150 to $500, dependent on your rebate type. Adopt-A-Drain Challenge Runs Through May 15 Our community is participating in the Adopt-a-Drain Community Challenge, a four-week effort to help keep storm drains clear during snowmelt and spring rains. Leaves, sand, and debris can quickly clog drains, leading to localized flooding and pollution entering nearby lakes and rivers. Residents can help by adopting a storm drain near their home and spending about 10–15 minutes clearing debris monthly. Our community goal is to adopt 20 storm drains and log 40 cleanings online. If we meet our goal, we will be awarded the Golden Gutter trophy! Community groups are also invited to participate in storm drain clean-ups, stenciling projects, and door- hanger outreach events.
