Lake Elmo Fire Department Open House Please join us at the Lake Elmo Fire Department's annual Open House, Monday, September 28, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm., 3880 Laverne Ave. N in Lake Elmo. This is your chance to meet your firefighters, sheriff deputies, and Lakeview EMS Staff. There will be station tours, Rescue & K9 demonstrations, car seat safety with Regions Hospital, Hands-Only CPR demonstrations, and fire prevention talks.  Calling Local Artists: Share Your Creativity with Lake Elmo The City of Lake Elmo is excited to launch a new quarterly Public Art Program, featuring rotating exhibits by local artists at Lake Elmo City Center. Local artists of all ages, including high school artists, are invited to apply for the opportunity to share their work with the community. Whether you're an established artist or just beginning to showcase your creativity, we'd love to see what you create! Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Before Election Day, take a few minutes to confirm your polling location, review a sample ballot and make a plan to vote. Whether you vote early or head to the polls on Election Day, make sure your voice is heard! Check out the latest updates, traffic impacts and detours to help plan your travels.. Hwy 36 & Lake Elmo Ave. Interchange -  Access to Hwy 36 from Lake Elmo Ave. is closed. Construction is expected to last through fall of 2027, and updates will be posted here. Hudson Blvd. between Jade Trail N. and Julia Ave. - The westbound lane of Hudson Blvd. between Jade and Julia is now closed. County Highway 13 (Ideal Ave.) Improvement Project Open House Scheduled for Sept. 24 Washington County, in partnership with the City of Lake Elmo and the City of Oakdale, is planning an improvement project on County Highway 13 (Ideal Ave) from County Highway 6 (Stillwater Blvd) to County Highway 14 (34th St N).   Join us in-person or online to view the proposed design and learn about the schedule and next steps for the project.   When: Thursday, September 24 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. (no formal presentation). Next Saturday, we're bringing the community together for an evening of music, food and fun at Lions Park. Bring your family. Meet up with friends. Say hello to a neighbor you haven't seen in a while. And don't forget your dancing shoes! *Please Note - Guests must be 21 years of age or older to purchase alcoholic beverages. A valid ID will be required. No alcohol will be allowed outside the designated area, and food trucks prefer cash or card. Road closures for the event:  Laverne Avenue N., from Upper 33rd Street N. to 36th Street N., will be closed from 8 a.m. on Friday, September 11, through 12 p.m. on Monday, September 14. The alley behind the library will be closed from 4 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12. Parking will not be allowed on streets within the road closure areas. If your driveway connects to a closed street, please move your vehicle outside the closure area before the road closes.  📅 Saturday, Sept. 12 | 5–10 p.m. Lions Park Visit the City Celebration Webpage [https://www.lakeelmo.gov/333/Lake-Elmo- City-Celebration] to follow along.  Sunfish Lake Park Will be Closed October 26 - 28 A managed deer hunt will take place at Sunfish Lake Park on October 26 - October 28 and again on November 9 - November 11 as part of ongoing efforts to manage the deer population and support the health of the park’s natural areas. For the safety of hunters and park visitors, Sunfish Lake Park will be closed to the public during the hunt. Please do not enter the park while the closure is in effect. Signs will be posted at park entrances to notify visitors of the closure. The park will reopen to the public following the completion of the hunt. It’s been a while since there’s been enough honey for an extraction, but this sweet fall tradition is officially back! Stop by SMINC on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon to watch beekeepers demonstrate how honey is extracted from the hive. While SMINC’s bees didn’t produce enough honey to harvest this year, the beekeepers will bring frames from Oakdale so visitors can see the extraction process up close — and maybe even taste some fresh honey! Bring the family and drop in anytime between 10 a.m. and noon. The event is free and open to the public. Stop by Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October 17 and shop fresh, locally grown produce, baked goods, handcrafted items and more. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Fall Cleaning? Don't Forget the Garage As you tackle fall cleanup around your home and yard, take a few minutes to check the garage, too. Before freezing temperatures arrive, look for paints, chemicals and other household products that shouldn’t be left in the cold. If you find products you no longer need, don’t pour them down the drain or place them in the trash. Household hazardous waste should be taken to an approved facility for safe disposal. A little fall cleaning now can help keep your home safe while protecting our water and environment. Clear the Clutter and Shred it Safely Have old bills, statements or other confidential documents taking up space? The South Environmental Center is hosting a paper shredding event on Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Bring documents you no longer need for secure shredding and make a little room while protecting your personal information. 📅 Wednesday, Sept. 9 ⏰ 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. 📍 South Environmental Center Visit Washington County Property and Environment [https://www.washingtoncountymn.gov/343 4/Property-Environment#events-programs] to learn more.  Water Wise Draining your pool or hot tub for the season?  As summer winds down, remember to drain pools and hot tubs responsibly. Water containing chlorine, bromine and other chemicals can harm local waterways. Never drain water into a street or storm drain. Let chlorine dissipate before draining. Drain slowly onto grass or landscaping where water can soak into the ground. Keep water away from lakes, streams and wetlands. Only rain should go down the storm drain! Save Money on Your Water Bill In partnership with the Metropolitan Council (Met Council) the City of Lake Elmo offers a rebate program for purchases of eligible water-efficient products. The funding has enabled Lake Elmo to provide a rebate to current water customers who replace existing devices with specified water-efficient products, or who have an irrigation system audit completed by a professional.  Visit the water rebate page at Lakeelmo.gov [https://www.lakeelmo.gov/225/Water- Rebate-Program] for guidelines, restrictions, and a list of qualifying items.  What Do My Taxes Pay For?  The City Council adopted the 2026 Budget on December 16, 2025. City Finance staff have developed a downloadable property tax calculator that estimates 2026 city taxes (no other jurisdictions) on your home.
