SMINC Honey Extraction is
Back!
It’s been a while since we’ve had enough
honey to do this, but it’s officially back: the
SMINC Honey Extraction! Join us on Saturday,
September 26, to watch our beekeepers
extract honey from the hives. They’ll be here
from 10 to noon. This is a drop-in event, so
you can come by (and bring the family)
anytime during that window.
Our bees didn’t produce enough this year,
but they’ll bring some frames from Oakdale.
You can watch the process–and maybe
even get a taste of fresh honey! It’s a sure
sign we’re transitioning from summer to fall.
This event is free and open to the public!
Visit Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature
Center [https://sminc-lake-elmo.org/] to

you do for Lake Elmo!

Yard Waste
Fall is a great time to get your yard ready for
the season ahead. As you rake leaves, clean
out gardens and trim trees and shrubs,
remember that yard waste doesn’t belong in
the trash.
Washington County residents can bring
leaves, grass clippings, branches, garden
waste and other plant material to the North
Yard Waste Site in Forest Lake.

Water Wise
Cooler Days Mean Less
Watering
As fall temperatures arrive, lawns and
landscaping need less water. Lake Elmo
residents are reminded to continue following
the City’s designated irrigation schedule
[https://www.lakeelmo.gov/261/Watering-
Irrigation]— and only water when needed.
Cut back on watering times as temperatures
cool.
Skip watering after rainfall.
Adjust irrigation zones based on your lawn and
landscaping needs.
Remember: Your designated watering day is
an option, not a requirement!
Every gallon saved helps conserve Lake
Elmo’s water supply. Thank you for using
water wisely this fall!
Save Money on Your Water Bill
In partnership with the Metropolitan Council
(Met Council) the City of Lake Elmo offers a
rebate program for purchases of eligible
water-efficient products.
The funding has enabled Lake Elmo to
provide a rebate to current water customers
who replace existing devices with specified
water-efficient products, or who have an
irrigation system audit completed by a
professional.
Visit the water rebate page at Lakeelmo.gov
[https://www.lakeelmo.gov/225/Water-
Rebate-Program] for guidelines, restrictions,
and a list of qualifying items.

What Do My Taxes Pay For?
The City Council adopted the 2026 Budget
on December 16, 2025. City Finance staff
have developed a downloadable property
tax calculator that estimates 2026 city taxes
(no other jurisdictions) on your home. It
shows approximately how much of your
taxes are allocated to each service area. See
the property tax calculator here.
