HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 99-15RESOLUTION NO. 99 -15 CITY OF LAKE ELMO WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A PLAN FOR THE COOPERATION AND CONSOLIDATION OF THE TOWN OF BAYTOWN AND THE CITY OF LAKE ELMO WHEREAS, the Town of Baytown and the City of Lake Elmo have indicated their respective intent to consolidate pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Sections 465.81 through 465.87; and WHEREAS, residents of the Town of Baytown and the City of Lake Elmo participated in preparing a Consolidation Plan and presented it to the Consolidation Steering Committee on January 21, 1999; and WHEREAS, the Consolidation Study's Steering Committee reviewed the Plan on January 21, 1999, and recommended that the Town of Baytown Board of Supervisors and the Lake Elmo City Council adopt said Consolidation Plan; and WHEREAS, the Consolidation Plan was presented to the Town of Baytown Board of Supervisors on February 1, 1999 and to the Lake Elmo City Council on February 2, 1999; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lake Elmo City Council hereby adopts the Consolidated Plan as presented by the Consolidation Study Steering Committee, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a referendum on the proposed consolidation is hereby called for April 27, 1999 for the residents of Lake Elmo to vote on the proposed consolidation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said referendum on the proposed consolidation shall be held concurrent with a referendum held by the Town of Baytown on April 27, 1999. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said referendum shall pass if the majority of votes cast in the Town of Baytown and a majority of the votes cast in the City of Lake Elmo are in support of the consolidation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if there is a successful referendum, the consolidation between The Town of Baytown and the City of Lake Elmo will become effective July 1, 1999.
