A Resolution Declining Acceptance of and
Participation in the TH 36 Corridor Management Flan
WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo City Council has reviewed the TH 36 Corridor
Management Plan dated. May, 2001; and
WHEREAS, the Lake Elmo City Council continues to disagree with the Inter
Regional Corridor Designation of Highway 36; and
WHEREAS, Highway 36 is the only Trunk Highway located entirely within the
seven county metropolitan area that has received the designation of an Inter Regional
Corridor; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo objects to the negative impact on the character
of communities located along the TH 36 corridor in the State of Minnesota for the sole
benefit of providing rapid access to the State of Wisconsin by commuter traffic; and
WHEREAS, there currently exists an alternate access to the State of Wisconsin less
than ten miles from TH 36; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo does not believe that all safety aspects are
properly addressed at the closing of so many access points.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Lake Elmo will not
support the TH 36 Corridor Management Plan for the following reasons:

designation of TH 36 as a Inter Regional Corridor.
2. Closing access to TH 36 within the City of Lake Elmo will prove harmful to the
City's residents and businesses.
3. Adequate access to Western Wisconsin is available to commuting traffic less then
ten miles from TH 36.

and designed as a Parkway, with a speed limit not to exceed forty -five miles per
hour, and will encourage through distribution of this resolution support for this
designation.
