HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2002-061City of Lake Elmo Washington County, Minnesota Resolution 2002- 061 A resolution Initiating Level 1 of the City's Water Conservation Plan WHEREAS, Section 600.20 of the Lake Elmo Municipal Code states as follow: Restrictions_ Caused by Water Shortage: Whenever the Council determines that a shortage of water supply threatens the City, it may, by resolution, limit the times and hours during which water may be used from the water system for lawn and garden sprinkling, irrigation, car washing, and other uses specified in the resolution. Notice of the limitation shall, immediately be mailed to each water Consumer. Two days after the mailing of the notice, any water consumer who shall cause or permit water to be used in violation of the provisions of the notice shall be charged a fee as set forth from time to time by Council resolution for each day of the violation. The charge shall be added to the water consumer's next water bill. Continued violation is prohibited and shall be cause for discontinuance of water service.' WHEREAS, Daily Water Use at 10% to 50% (72,000 - 360,000 gpd) of Water Supply Capacity reached 250,000 gpd on July 1, 2002, which triggers a Demand for Reduction Level 1, considered to be a Moderate Emergency Condition. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lake Elmo City Council hereby initiates a Odd /Even Sprinkling Ban, which ineans that the non - essential use of water, including lawn sprinkling, vehicle washing, golf course and park .irrigation, are permitted only on even number days if your address ends with an even number, and only on odd numbered days if your address ends with an odd number.
