CITY OF LAKE EL MO
WASHINGTON COUE TY, MINNESOT
RESOLUTION . 2005-061
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A VARIANCE TO ARCHITECTURAL
STANDARDS TO USE METAL SIDING
CITE` of LAKE ELMO
WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo has submitted a Section 520 Site Plan for
construction of a Public Works and Parks Garage utilizing metal siding as a primary
exterior surfacing material, AND
WHEREAS, at its June 13, 2005 meeting, the Planning Commission reviewed and
recommended approval of this variance per plans presented by staff, as the same on file
with the City Administrator.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council for the City of
Lake Elmo does hereby approve the variance to architectural standards to use metal siding
for a Public Works /Parks Garage based upon the recommendation of the Planning
Commission. and the following Findings:
1. This is a reasonable use of the property.
2. Maintaining the rural character of the city by the use of architectural features and
materials is a goal of the city, and the location of this parcel as a gateway point
to the city is a unique feature of this property.
3. Granting of the variance will not change the essential character of the
neighborhood because the building will be buffered and screened.
ADOPTED, by the Lake Elmo City Council on the 21s` day q& une, 2N5.
Dean Johnston, Mayor
