CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2016- 06 <br />A RESOL UTION INCREASING 7WE NUMBER OF MEMBERS ON THE LIB RA R Y BOA kD <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo has established public library service for City <br />inhabitants pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 134.07; and <br />WHEREAS, a seven member Library Board was appointed by the City Council that also <br />includes two alternate members; and <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 134.09, subdivision 1, allows for five, seven or <br />nine member library boards; and <br />WHEREAS, the Library Board has recommended to the City Council that the Library <br />Board's membership be increased from seven to nine members and that the Library Board <br />membership no longer include any alternate members; and <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes Section 134.09, subdivision I states that the number of <br />members on a library board must be determined by resolution or ordinance adopted by the city <br />council; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City Council does hereby <br />approve the following: <br />1. That the membership of the Library Board shall be increased from seven to nine <br />members; and <br />2.
