HomeMy WebLinkAboutFINAL ORDINANCE NO. 97-166CITY OF LAKE ELMO WASHINGTON COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA ORDINANCE NO. 97-166 AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO PRIVATE WELLS The Lake Elmo City Council hereby ordains that Section 600.21 of the Lake Elmo City Code is hereby amended to read and that Section 600.21A. and B. are hereby added to the Lake Elmo City to read as follows: 600.21 Private Wells. A. Dual Water System. Except as provided in Section 600.21.B., a private well may be maintained and continued in use after connections made to the City water system, provided that there is no means of cross connection between the private well and the City water supply at any time. Hose bibs that will enable the cross connection of the two (2) systems are prohibited on internal piping of the well supply system. Threads of the boiler drain of the well volume tank shall be removed or the boiler drain hose bib replaced with a sink faucet. Outside hose bibs will not be installed on the municipal water system where dual water systems are in use. B. Sealing of Well Required. A private well which has been declared to be a known or potential health hazard by resolution of the City Council shall be sealed pursuant to the regulations of the Minnesota Department of Health. ADOPTION DATE: Passed by the Lake Elmo City Council on the 6th day of March, 2006. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be effective the day following its publication.
