STATE OF MINNESOTA COUNTY OF WASHINGTON CITY OF LAKE EL�MO ORDINANCE NO. '1t1 01 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE 1997 LAKE ELMO MUNICIPAL CODE The Lake Elmo City Council ordains: SECTION 1. Adoption of Code. The City Council hereby adopts the 1997 Lake Elmo Municipal Code, consisting of Chapters 1 through 14 inclusive and Appendix A The 1997 Lake Elmo Municipal Code represents a codification of Ordinances 7901 through 8152, which have been adopted since October 16, 1979, the date on which the City last codified the Lake Elmo Ordinances. A copy of the 1997 Lake Elmo Municipal Code shall be marked "Official Copy" and filed as part of the official records of the City in the office of the City Administrator. SECTION 2. Repeal of Prior Code and Ordinances. All prior codes and Ordinances are hereby repealed, except those Ordinances noted in Appendix A , which, being special or limited in nature and application, are continued in force and effect but will not be set forth in the codified portion of the 1997 Lake Elmo Municipal Code. SECTION 3. Subsequent Ordinances. Ordinances passed after the effective date of the 1997 Lake Elmo Municipal Code shall be adopted as amendments, additions or rescissions to the 1997 Municipal Code unless such Ordinances are special or limited in nature and application, in which event they shall appear as an Appendix to the 1997 Lake Elmo Municipal Code. It is the intent of the City Council that the 1997 Lake Elmo Municipal Code be kept up to date by insertion of revised or additional pages. Consecutive chronological numbering of subsequent Ordinances shall continue. SECTION 4. Preservation of Existing Rights. The repeal of any prior code, Ordinance or portion thereof by the adoption of the 1997 Lake Elmo Municipal Code shall not affect or impair any act done or right vested or accrued, or any proceeding, suit or prosecution had or commenced in any cause before such repeal became effective. SECTION 5. Publication of Ordinance Summary. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 412.191, subd. 4, the Lake Elmo City Council hereby determines that the Ordinance Summary attached hereto as Exhibit 1 will clearly inform the public as to the content of the 1997 Lake Elmo Municipal Code and further directs that the Ordinance Summary be published in the City's official newspaper in lieu of the publication of the entire 1997 Lake Elmo 1 Municipal Code.
