CITY OF LAKE ELMO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE 97-14 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 210.03, (COMPOSITION); <br />SECTION 210.04 (QUALIFICATIONS); AND SECTION 210.11 (QUORUM) <br />RELATING TO THE LAKE ELMO PLANNING COMMISSION <br />OF THE 1997 LAKE ELMO MUNICIPAL CODE <br />Section 1. Amendment: Sections 210.03, 210.04 and 210.11 of the 1997 Municipal Code are <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br />210.03 Composition <br />The Planning Commission shall consist of eleven (11) members which includes two alternate <br />members. Members shall be appointed by the Council for three-year terms so that only one-third <br />(1/3) of the appointments will expire on December 31st of each year. No member may serve more <br />than two consecutive three year terms unless the average years of service for all Commission <br />members is less than four years. A member who has served two terms may be reappointed by the <br />Council after a one-year absence. Alternate members shall be appointed to serve until there is a <br />vacancy on the Commission or until they have served three years. The Council shall designate a first <br />alternate and a second alternate who will become full members in order of appointment and shall <br />complete the unexpired term of the member they succeed. If the office of any alternate becomes <br />vacant, the vacancy shall be filled in the same manner in which the last regular appointment for that <br />office was made. <br />210.04 Oualifications and Trainin¢ <br />Each member and alternate member shall be a resident of the City. Wherever possible, Commission <br />members should reside in different geographical areas of the City and a cross-section of the <br />population of the City at the time of appointment. All persons appointed to the Planning Commission <br />shall attend the Government Training Services' (GTS) training programs within six (6) months from <br />the date of appointment, or shall be subject to removal from the Commission. <br />210.11 Ouorum <br />A quorum shall consist of five members. <br />Section 2.
