Mehsikomer Letter from Martin Brockman and herb Rygg, Chairman and Secretary respectively, of theWater Procurement Committee was read and discussed. Clerk Mehsikomer was instructed to write a letter to the committee tot he effect that they approved the idea of anew election. Since it would require some planning it was decided to request a joint meeting between the committee and the council. This was made into a motion by trustee Roy Dornfeld second by trustee Robert Dennis. Carried 4-0. A letter from the VIEW was read. relative to the status the skating rink. Clerk Mehsikomer was instructed to them a letter to Commander explaining council plans. Letter to be Vince Anderson. of send sent; Committee reporton Recreation by trustee Roy Dornfeld. Joe Brachman. had been hired to look after -the skating rink and the warming house. This would include turning the lights on and off, watching over the heating system and in general overseeing the rink from his home. During -the period that Mr. Brockman was in the hospital his wife would keep an eye on the rink. During the brief period -this has been in effect it seems to work. Pay .rate The hockey goals had been rfmoved from the skating rink with- out permission and put on the rink on the lake. Trustee Roy Dornfeld advised that he would see that they were returned on or before the fish houses had to be removed. Relative to the hockey rink the council decided to see to it that the boards were completed during the summer months including painting. All work would be completed before the 15th of October so thatt they could be installed before the skating season. started. Committee report on Streets by trustee Lloyd Fbne. Jan. 25, 1961 Dear Councilman, It has been brought to our attention that the skating rink in Lake Elmo is not being taken care of or operating as of the past. This is of great disappointmtant to us as much as we have helped to finance the local skating rink for several years. We were also informed the Lions Club and also the local Fire Department helped on this as Community Service. As it was discussed at our last meeting we or the other organizations have failed to follow this project through that it may be used to its best advantage. Realizing the skating season is soon over, we would like to see that the same conditions do not exist forthe following year. We trust you will give this consideration to make the proper correction. Sinoertely you've Lake Elmo Minnesota February 6, 1961 Village Council Lake Elmo Minnesota Gentlemen The Committe on Water Procurement for Lake Elmo held a meeting, after the matter was defeated at the last election, to discuss the matter further. The majority opinion was that another attempt should be made to try to bring this matter before the voters in the village. In so deciding, it was thought that a..00 per front foot,with a $100.00 hook-up charge, is the fairest method. The footage of the various irregular pieces of property to be judged on its merits. It was decided that if this meets with the councils permission, an effort will be made to appoint a number of teams of two people each to contact the voters with material that will show each one what the over-all cost will be.
