MINUTES OF THE LAKE ELMO VILLAGE. COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 29 1968
Meeting called to order at 7;15PM.
Clerk issued the oath of office to Calvin Brockman as Mayor, to Lester
Goerss As Trustee} to Robert Bruce Abercrombie as Trustee and to Roger
Meyer as Treasurer.
Minutes of the December 5, 1967 meeting read and approved.
D.W.Elliott of Banister Engineering reviewed the work done by the. rail-
way and proposed a letter whcih he recommended that we send. This letter
was passed along to Rod Lawson and he was to make necessary changes and
send it ti the clerk for submittal to the railroad„
The request for village action on the drainage of water from the J.Dur-
and, Harvey Allen and Robert Novak was discussed with the engineers and
it was suggested that we wait until this spring as not much can be done
with the ground frozen and no water standing idle.
Trustee Lester Goerss was appointed to contact the county engineer re-
garding a more prompt removal of snow off of Washington County 17, more
commonly known as Lake -Elmo Road. Particularly snow from along the road
piled up by the early passes of the regular snowplows.
Clerk to write Rod Lawson to check into toe annexation of Norm Wendt,
Vince Anderson, Frank Tokay and the Ellman property. Reports are that
this area is still not on the village tax rolls but rather on East Oak-
dale and they were supposed to have been annexed some time ago.
.Clerk to check to determine how much water was used by Ray Cina and by
( Northwest Bituminous during 1967 and to, issue a bill for water used.
The following assignments were made for the year 1968.
Streets;Ebne, Abercrombie and Goerss.
Recreation;Goerss, Ebne and Abercrombie.
Fire and Safety;Abercrombie,Goerss and Ebne.
Health;Brookman, Mehsikomer and Dr. Van Meier with his approval.(Les
Goerss was to personally contact the Dr. regarding using him again.
Legal; Rod Lawson of the firm of Thoreen, Thoreen and Lawson. Mr. Lloyd
Shervheim(spelling) would be agreeable to help in any way that he could
in that he is a resident of Lake Elmo, Minnesota,
Engineering; Banister Engineering of St. Paul
Bank; State Bank of Fake Elmo.
Building Inspector; George Seigfreid( Mr. Ebne would check availability).
Gas Inspector; Roy Dornfeld
Village paper; either the weekly, or the daily Stillwater Gazette.
Plumbing Inspector; Henry Pfalz
Insurance; Lake Elmo Insurance Agency.
Actin Mayor; Lloyd Ebne.
Weed Inspector; Calvin Brockman with assistant Roy Lohmann.
Labor rate ; 8 1.75 per hour.
Custodian Salary; 8 125.00/ month.
Motion by Trustee Abercrombie second by Trustee Ebne that the above
appointments be approved. Carried 5-0.

Meeting of the Metropolitan Commission is scheduled for January 5, 1968
at the Oakdale Town Hall at 10 AM.
Clerk was instructed to write a letter to the fire chief suggesting and
recommending that teams of inspectors be set up in the fire department
and that all the business places as well as those homes that have mult-
iple occupancy be inspected for fire hazards periodically.
Clerk to order a night watch lamp to be placed at the village water tank.
Roy Lohmann was advised that if we have any amount of snow he may obtain
help to see that the hydrants are always free from ice and available for use.
