MINUTES OF THE LAKE ELMO VILLAGE COUNCIL OCTOBER 289 1968
Meeting called to order at 7:15PM by Mayor Brockman.
Present:Brookman,Ebne I Goerss,Abercrombie and Mehsikomer.
Minutes of the October 1, 1968 read and. approved:.
Earl Goerss and LeRoy Turnbull were on ahnd to ask if the council would
consider a skating rink for the kids where no hockey would be allowed..
They suggested that a rink about a hundred x a hundred be made on the
athletic field. Earl Goerss would take the necessary action -to have
the areas -baked out and boards obtained from the Lake Elmo Lumber Co.
Maynard Eder representing the East Oakdale Townboard asked that the
council consider two men for the committee to act as advisors on the
Police Protection and Equipment Committee. This unit is necessary to
formulate a program in anticapation of the consolidation of the Village
and the Township. The committee would be made up of two members from
the Township, two from the village and the present law officers for
both bodies. Mayor requested that the council think about this and have
some suggestions at the next meeting Nov.5, 1968.
Other items: that would require study are Ordinances and government
areas (Wards).
Clerk instructed to get together with William Park,'Town Clerk, and send
a letter to Fred Streiff asking him to vacate the garage so that the
building can be used for the storeage of village and township, equip.
Special meeting set for November 25th with East Oakdale at 7:PM at the
Village —Town Ball to discuss items of common interest in lieu of the
possible consolidation. Planning commissions from both groups invited.
Trustee Goerss was to discuss the fill situation on the Leitte Pro—
perty with Tony Leitte.
The next meeting of the Village Council was set for 7:30PM at -the Fire
Hall.
Motion by Trustee Goerss 2nd Trustee Abercrombie that Donn Pepper the
new County Surveyer be authorized to sign Village Plat requests. 5/0
Motion bynTrustee Ebne 2nd by Trustee Abercrombie that the requests
for liquor licenses from The Elmo Inn, Twin Point and VFW 5725 be
approved. Carried 5/0. The ON sale fee for Elmo Inn and Twin Point
to be 8850. and for the VFW $500. The OFF Sale for Twin Point and
The Elmo Inn $100.00. The Sunday Liquor for The Elmo Inn $200.
Motion by Ebne 2nd by Goerss that the Clerk Salary for 1969 be set
at $35»00/month from the village and $25/month from the Water Dept.
Carried 5/0.
Motion bynTrustee Goerss 2nd by Trustee Ebne that Treasures Salary
for 1969 be set at $200.00. Carried 5/0.
Request was received and approved to waive the Building permit charge
for the new Church Activities Building.
Al Haseley asked if the Council would approve expenditures to replace
some of the Christmas Decorations. He was advised that legally we
could not expend monay for this purpose.
Clerk instructed to order a 1j" water meter for the new building.
