Present: K. Brookman, L. Friedrich, R. Watson, R. Abercrombie, W. nark and D, Mehsikomer. Also present, D. Raleigh (legal) Bonestroo (Engineer) and J. Eder,Constahl.e. Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m, by Mayor Brockman. Clerk administered oath of office to Councilman elect Lehart Friedrich and Constable elect James Eder. Minutes of the December 1, 1970 meeting approved as submitted on a motion by Councilman Matson seconded by Coucilman Shervheim, which carried 5-0. Sewer Installers permit SI000011 for Joe Lenz submitted for approval ( Insurance Certificate accompanied request), Motion by Councilman Abercrombie second by Councilman Shervheim that Lenz application be approved„ Carried 5-0. Letter from R. H. Sullivan, traffic engineer, Department of Highways, State of Minnesota to pillage Clerk, regarding speed limits on several Lake Elmo Streets, read. Motion by Councilman Watson seconded by Councilman Shervheim that the following speed zones be established and that 0ouneilman Friedrich be authorized to purchase the necessary materials (signs -posts etc.) to properly post. Lake Jane Drive -- 50 miles per hour between the intersection with Trunk - ®® Highway 212 and the west intersection with Lake Jane Road ( a distance of :approximately 1.0 mile). '30 miles per hour beginning at the east intersection with Lake Jane Road, thence northerly to the end of the road ( a distance of approximately 0.7 mine). Lake Jane Road -- 35 miles per hour between the intersection with County �-_n- _mm_ State Aid IIighway 13 and a point approximately 400 feet west of the west intersection with Lake Jane Drive. 40 miles per hour from -the last above mentioned point to the east intersection with Lake Jane Drive. Retain the statutory speed limit of 65 miles per hour daytime, 55 males per hour nighti.me, between the east intersection with Lake Jane Drive and the intersection with Trunk Highway 212. McNeely Road -® 50 miles per hour between the intersection with County State Aid Highway 17 (Lake Elmo Road) and the inter.. section with County State Aid Hi-ghway 15. Eleventh Street 35 miles per hour between the intersection with County State Aid Highway 17 (lake Elmo Road) and a point approximately 400 feet east of Geranium Street, 50 miles per hour between the last above mentioned point and the intersection with County State Aid Highway 15. The establishment of the above limits, therefore, is approved, and this will authorize the installation of proper speed limit signs which shall be in accordance with the JArnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Mayor Brookman pointed out rossi-ble controversy between Metro Park Board a.nd the Washington County regarding a proposed road through the Proposed park area.. Village is hereby on record that any such road should be a Parkway. Clerk instructed to write Letter to Planning Commission requesting that they rev -err the proposed Thoroughfare road plan for Take Elmo dated 1969 and also reviser the Metro Area common street framing and numbering proposal and rake a recommenKa.tion to the council based on current tbi_rking at the first meutirg An march, 1971. Councilman Abercrombie moved and Councilman t.T.tson seconded the appointments (subject, to acceptance), Carried - 5-0.
