Meeting called to order at 5:16 PM by Acting Mayor. Abercrombie.
Present: Mayor Eder, Councilmen Abercrombie, Shervheim, Pott & Councilwoman Lyons.
Also present: Counsel Raleigh and Engineer Tom Noyes.
High Water Report:Engineer Tom Noyes updated the council on the water levels due to the
recent rains. A comparison of levels from August 1 to August 19 shows the
following: Long Lake N. down from 940.23 to 938.90, Long Lake S. down from
940.16 to 938.90, Olson Lake down 929.95 to 929.92, Deer Pond down from
924.52 to 924.51, Lake Jane down 922.27 to..9222.07 and Sunfish up from
890.55 to 890.66.
Gains on the Lake Elmo Lakes have practically been wiped out by the rains.
The leaks that were causing ponding on the Moris property have not been
repaired but a dyke has been built and is controlling the•:extrq water.
Suggestion that possibly Clear Lake which is Northeast of Lake Jane be
considered as a possible site for additional storage. Any such action
would require easements. This should be considered in the long range plan.
Complaints from citizens on Legion regarding the high water in the slew
between them and the lake. Action on this will be made as part of the
overall plan for water or flood control for Lake Elmo.
Engineer reported that he had checked prices on the purchase of pumping
equipment to have available on a permanent basis. Costs of pumps varied
from $8,000 to $11,230 for a 2200 gal./min pump having a minimum of 60
ft of head. Based on current cost of operation and availability of funds
purchase does not appear to be in order.
Motion by Councilman Shervheim 2nd by Councilman Abercrombie that we table
the Legion Ave. problem. Further that the engineer and counsel get together
and draft a plan showing actions proposed to be taken when lake levels
on any of the Lake Elmo lakes and ponds reach problem levels. The draft
should be available as soon as possible, preferably by the meeting on
September 2, 1975. Carried 5-0.
Motion by Councilman Shervheim 2nd by Councilwoman Lyons to authorize
supplying Mr. M. Ferderer with the 6' x 2' culvert recommended by the
engineer to alleviate the water ponding problem on his property. Estim-
ated cost $120.00. Carried 5-0.
Adjournment:Motion by Councilman Shervheim 2nd by Councilman Pott that we adjourn
at 6:15 PM. Carried 5-0.
