Gentlemen:
The Park and Recreation Committee of the Township
of East Oakdale makes the following recommendation to
the town board of this Township:
The board take immediate action to purchase
for park and recreation purposes that piece of land
lying south of Lake Jane and north of Lake Jane Road
which is owned by Mr. Carl Olinger, and in the spring
of the year 1968 commence work on this property to
make swimming facilities for this township with a
completion date set for the spring of 1969.
Along with this recommendation we would like to
offer the following suggestions:
1) consideration be given to the purchase of land
on the southeast corner of Lake Jane Road and
Lake Jane Drive to be used for parking facilities
in order to have almost all the lake shore
property available for beach.
2) obtain engineering study on the feasibility of
dredging the swimming area to remove mud and
old tree roots.
3) development of the beach should include;
a) a 50 fbbt strip on each end of the beach
to function as a buffer area for the ad-
joining property rovers. These strips
should be sodded and have an abundance
of trees.
a lavatory at each end of the beach
adjoining the buffer areas which can also
serve as, drain field areas. These lavatories
should each include a dressing room.
c) fencing of the beach area with a`single
entrance located near the intersection of
Lake Jane Road and Lake Jane Drive.
d) a black top bicycle parking area.
e) constructionqof a life guard tower, a raft
and floats for demarcation of the swimming
area.
This committee feels that a three way stop should
be installed at the intersection of Lake Jane Road and
Lake Jane Drive with ample advance warning before each
stop sign.
In addition this committee feels that work should
be started on a park ordinance to be completed and passed
when the new beach is opened. This ordinance would cover
all future park and recreation facilities.
