MINUTES OF PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
Meeting of November 9, 1971
The meeting was called to order at 8:05 PM by Chairman Lundquist.
Those present were: W. Lundquist, M. Eder, F. Pott and T. Torseth.
The Public Hearing for a gecial Use Permit for a sign on Highway
12 was called to order at 8:10 PM. Mr. James Moscato was present
to represent White Advertising Co. who desires to move a lighted
billboard approximately 600 feet to the west of the intersection
of Highway 12 and County 19B. After discussing the new location, a
motion was made to table this matter for 30 days so that the permit
could be issued under the new Freeway Corridor Zoning . Seconded
and carried 4..-0. The hearing was closed at 8:30 PM.
Mr.. Larry Griffith appeared regarding a Special Use Permit for
Mr.•& Mrs. W. Hammes to mine gravel on their 160 acres in Sections
3L. and 35. Mr. Griffith stated that he felt the Hammes' had a
permit (issued in 1959 by East Oakdale Township) but since the
validity of this permit was questioned, they would prefer to apply
for a new permit, rather than investigate the present legal status
of the 1959 permit.
Mr. Griffith requested that the public hearing beset for 8:00 PM
on December 14th. He was advised that a topographical map of the land
would be required for the hearing so that the effect of the gravel
mining on the land could be determined. Mr. Griffith was given a
copy of the Model Washington County Code for gravel mining and it
was suggested that this be used as a guide in planning the proposed
gravel mining.
Mr. Folz arrived at 9: 55 PM
Mr. Dennis Josephs, 2670 Shore Drive appeared regarding a permit
a mobile home on his property.
He was advised that:

The ordnances only permit mobile homes in mobile home parks.
Only one dwelling is permitted on a one acre lot.
He should check the building code or talk to the Building
Inspector before he plans any improvements to this property
which he recently purchased.
Chairman Lundquist suggested that the PZC make a recommendation to
the Village Council regarding a gravel mining ordnance. The Commission
will meet at the Fire Hall at 7:00 PM on November 16 to discuss this
Ordnance and then make a recommendation to the Council during their
regular meeting that night.
A motion was made and seconded to adjorn at 11:50 PM.
