PLANNING & ZOWTNG COMMISSION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF SEPT ER 25, 1972
The meeting was called to order at 7:40P.M.
Those present were Chairman Lundquist, B. Fol z, D. Lyons, F. Pott, I, Raleigh,
J. Raisanen, J. Sovereign and T. Torseth. Also present was
T31dg. Inspector --Hen Friedrich.
A motion was made and seconded that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved
as published. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Jim Friedrich appeared for a Special Use Permit for operating a repair garage
on his property. The area is zoned SFU. Mr. Friedrich indicated that this is a
temporary situation as he intends to relocate next summer. He would also like to
place a 21x6' sign an the roof. A motion was made and seconded. that the PZC re-
commends to the Vi.11aee Council that a :Special Use Permit be issued to oermit this
temporary use. The Sii? should also include the requested identification sign.
Carried unanimously. tir. Paul Friedrich (9340-31st. \o.) and Mr. R:Mrs. Leo Beach
(9517 Stillwpter Blvd. No.) appeared in Mr. Friedri ch's behalf.
A preliminary plat for the Dan Olinger lot on the South Shore of Lake Jane was
discussed. It was decided that 13. Folz and W. Lundquist would arpear at next
council meeting to discuss lot sizes on lakeshore lots with the Village Council.
The secretary will obtain a spot on the agenda and notify the PZC members of same.
Mr. Tames Parker appeared regarding the buildability of Lot 4 in Pabst's Lake Jane
plat. He was advised that percolation tests are required by our 0rdinances. There
were no problems with thi.s lot which were apparent from the plat map. It was suggested
that he discuss the Ordinance and Bldg. Code with Ben Friedrich who was also present.
Mr. Ron Swa er appeared regarding required set -back for a garage on his lot on the
East Side of County 17 near State 36. He was advised that the miniim m set -back is
30 feet from the right off' way (or in this case 8O feet from the center line of County 17)
but also, the garage must be no closer to the roadway than his dwelling.
Mr. Jess Mottaz, representing the vashington County Park Planning Commission, apneared
to discuss the proposed County Park on the Crombie property in the NW corner of
Lake Elmo. He indicated that, the plan had been endorsed by the Board of Directors
of the Tri-Lakes Assn., and the Lake Elmo Park Study Committee. Mr. Matta% stated
that this parcel of 280 acres was ideal for a park because of its topography and
location and because it included almost one mile of lakeshore. After considerable
discussion and a show of hands, it was decided that the endorsement vote should be
tabled until the next meeting.
Mr. George Kasse appeared regarding the keening of non -domestic animals on his
recently purchased 3 acres in Bordner-Garner's Fermettes plat. He was advised that
a Special Use Permit was required for this use on all tracts under 20 acres. If he
wished to keep non -domestic animals on his tract, he should determine the number and
type of same and apply for a Special Use Permit at the Village Office.
The meeting was ad nurned at 11130 P.M.
