LAUDERDALE COUNCIL
Action Requested
Consent
Public Hearing
Discussion
Action
Resolution
Work Session
X
ACTION FORM
Meeting Date
May 255 2021
ITEM NUMBER Covid-19 Prepare Plan
STAFF INITIAL }
APPROVED BY ADMINISTRATOR
DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE AND PAST COUNCIL ACTION:
Staff are preparing for the opening up of City facilities as the governor unwinds restrictions.
Part of that is updating the City's COVID49 Preparedness Plan. The draft updated plan
follows. We can make changes together at the meeting prior to the Council's reauthoriza-
tion. The goal is to reflect those basic safety measures that will stay in place but recognize
the pent up demand for use of Community Park and the Social Room. Staff propose doing
this as follows:
City Parlc: Starting June 1, 2021, Lauderdale residents may make application to reserve the
park as was permitted pre -pandemic. Previously, we allowed non-residents to reserve the
picnic shelter but feel a good transition is to keep use local for the season.
Social Room: Starting June 1, 2021, City Hall will be open to groups that use the facility
when staff are present. Starting July 1, 2021, the Social Room will be open to reservations
for weekend use. The use will be limited to one group per weekend as sanitation between
groups on the weekend is not feasible. July 1 coincides with the end of the mask mandate.
The group size will be limited by any restrictions imposed by the governor.
Staff also is wondering what the Council preliminarily thinks about the hansition to in -
person city council meetings. Virtual meetings may continue until some point after which
the governor's emergency powers end. Last I heard, that timefr•ame was being considered
by the state legislature. We partially ask the question as we plan for the technology up-
grades.
OPTIONS:
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Motion to reauthorize the COVID-19 Preparedness Plan for the City of Lauderdale as pre-
sented or amended.
