LAUDERDALE CITY HALL, 1891 WALNUT STREET
The City Council is meeting as a legislative body to conduct the business of the City according
to Robert's Rules of Order and the Standing Rules of Order and Business of the City Council.
Unless so ordered by the Mayor, citizen participation is limited to the times indicated and always
within the prescribed rules of conduct for public input at meetings.

Public hearings are conducted so that the public affected by a proposal may have input into the
decision. During hearings all affected residents will be given an opportunity to speak pursuant to
the Robert's Rules of Order and the standing rules of order and business of the City Council.

RESOLUTION 011717A
CITY OF LAUDERDALE
COUNTY OF RAMSEY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
RESOLUTION DECLARING AN APPOINTMENT TO THE CITY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the City Council declared a vacancy on the City Council on January 3, 2017
pursuant to Resolution 010317A; and
WHEREAS, the -Willi of that office is in its third year and the tell will expire on January 7,
2019; and
WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. § 412.02, subd 2a, provides that the City Council make an appointment
to fill the vacancy for the unexpired term; and
WHEREAS, is an individual eligible and well-qualified to fill the
office of Lauderdale City Council Member until the next general municipal election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lauderdale City Council hereby appoints
a member of the Lauderdale City Council to serve in such
office until the next general municipal election.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Lauderdale, Minnesota, on this 17th day of January,
2017.

Process:
We opened the applications to all residents. All applicants are being interviewed by the entire City Council.
Questions:
1. The City Council meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Do you have any
conflicts with this schedule or expect to be able to attend meetings remotely?
2. Discuss your interest in serving on the City Council. As the council members also commit to being on
committees both in and outside of the City, feel free to discuss any committees of interest to you.
Examples include the community involvement committee or our obligations with our watershed districts
and partnerships with our surrounding cities.
3. What do you perceive are the key issues facing Lauderdale in the next 5-10 years?
4. What do you consider to be your two best skills and how do you believe they will help you succeed at being
a member of the City Council?
5. What do think the Council should do when the goals of a vocal minority in the community conflict with
what the Council thinks is in the best interest of the community?
6. How would you handle an irate resident or complaints about the City, City Council, or staff?
7. In about 30 second, summarize for us why you think you are the best candidate for the City Council.
8. Do you have any questions for the City Council?
Next Steps:
The City Council will decide on their selection at the conclusion of the interviews. The Administrator will let all
candidates know the outcome.
