TUESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2007
7.30 p.m. Lauderdale City Hall, 1891 Walnut Street
Council members present were Denise Hawkinson, Karen Doherty, Clay Christensen and
Mayor Jeffrey Dains.
City Administrator Brian Heck, Assistant to the Administrator Jim Bownik, and Heather
Butkowski, Deputy City Clerk were also present.
Council member Christensen moved to approve the agenda. Council member
Hawkinson seconded the motion and the motion carried.
Council member Hawkinson moved to approve the minutes from the September 25,
2007, City Council meeting. Council member Doherty seconded the motion and it
carried.
Council member Christensen moved approval of the claims in the amount of
$76,202.78. Council member Doherty provided the second and the motion carried.
Council member Hawkinson moved to approve the consent agenda appointing the
election judges, approving rental licenses and approving the SCORE Funds for the
recycling program. Council member Doherty provided the second and the motion
carried.
Bownik provided information on the planning progress for the annual Halloween party at
City Hall.
Heck advised the Council a meeting is set for Tuesday, October 23 at 2:30 p.m. with
property owners along Larpenteur Avenue.
Mayor Dains stated he spoke to Heck last week on the proposed sound wall. Mayor
Dains suggested a community information meeting be held on the issue before the City
Council meeting on October 23, 2007. Heck provided the Council with information from
a meeting he had with Mark Guess and other Mn/DOT staff to discuss the potential
construction of a sound wall on the east side of TH280. Heck outlined the project but
said the project is not yet funded. Construction could start as soon as funding is
authorized.
The Council laid out possible items for the next meeting and moved into work session at
8:10 p.m. to discuss the draft inflow and infiltration ordinance.
Heck and Butkowski outlined the issues and answered questions relating to the suggested
sewer ordinance amendments. Butkowski provided some information she obtained from
the City of Minnetonka where residents are able to assess expenses for fixing their
systems to their property taxes.
The Council requested staff research this idea, include it in the draft ordinance, and bring
it back to another meeting for further discussion.
Council member Hawkinson moved to adjourn the meeting. Council member
Doherty seconded the motion and the motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:30
p.m.
