<br />'. ....~,c.qF,tpINANCENO. 594 <br />CitVOF MOUNDS View' . <br /> <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS <br />606, 607 AND 1005 OF THE MOUNDS <br />viEW mUNiCiPAL CODe RELATED TO <br />THE REQUIREMENT TO MOW TALL <br />GRASSES AND CREATING AN <br />EXEMPTION FOR WETLAND AND NATIVE <br />VEGETATION <br />THE CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW ORDAINS: <br />SECTION 1: Chapter 606 of the Mounds <br />View Public Health and Safety Code is <br />amended by adding new language and <br />subdivisions exempting certain land uses and <br />landscape treatments from Section 606.02, <br />entitled "DESTRUCTION OF WEEDS BY <br />OWNER": <br />606.02: DESTRUCTION OF WEEDS BY <br />OWNER: All such grass and weeds shall be <br />cut, pulled or destroyed whenever they shall <br />exceed a height of eight (8) inches. The <br />followina areas and tyoes of veaetation are <br />exemote<j from this orovision if manaaed in a <br />manner so as not to become infested with <br />noxious weeds or to create a stagnant. foul <br />smelling condition. <br />Subd. 1 Native wetland veaetation found in <br />wetlands desi9nated as Dart of the City's <br />wetland zonin9 district-or in floodolains. <br />drainaae oands ar ditches which store and <br />convey stormwater. <br />Subd. 2. Native veaetation found in natural <br />areas which are Dart of oublic aDen soace <br />parks and nature centers. <br />Subd. 3. '5. If such mowing is necessarv and <br />the area is likely to be seen bv the oublic a <br />. sian shall be oosted advisina that a meadow <br />: o~ orairie is being established The size of the <br />: sign shall be one C1l sauare-foot and it shall <br />be no hiaher than three 13\ feet. <br />SECTION 2: Chapter 607 of the Mounds <br />View Public Health and Safety Code is <br />amended by adding new language to <br />Subdivision 1 g of Section 607.03, entitled <br />"NUISANCES ENUMERATED": <br />g. All noxious weeds, "tall grasses" defined <br />as anything over eight (8) inches in height, <br />and'other rank growths 1, exceot as exemoted <br />in Section 606.02 of this Code. <br />SECTION 3: Chapter 1005 of the Mounds <br />View Building Code is amended by adding <br />new language to a footnote within Subdivision <br />3 of Section 1005.05, entitled "HEALTH AND <br />SANITATION STANDARDS": <br />Subd. 3, Noxious weeds: All exterior <br />property areas shall be kept free from species <br />of weeds or plant growth which are noxious or <br />detrimental to the public health2. <br />SECTION 4: EFFECTIVE DATE: This <br />ordinance goes into effect upon adoption by <br />the City Council and 30 days after its <br />publication in the official City newspaper. <br />Read by the City Council of the City of <br />Mounds View on~, 1997. <br />Read and passed by the City Council of the <br />City of Mounds View this ~ day of Ami\, <br />1997 u . <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />181 Duane W.
