RESOLUTION 7433 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPROVAL TO PRECEDE WITH A GRANT <br />APPLICATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE COPS HIRING PROGRAM FOR <br />ONE NEW POLICE OFFICER <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Justice is offering grants through its Community <br />Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office Hiring Recovery Program; and, <br />WHEREAS, the process for obtaining an award under this program is a <br />competitive one; and, <br />WHEREAS, the grant will fund 100% of the salary and benefits of new officers <br />for a three year period, so long as communities commit to retaining the new position(s) <br />for one year beyond the three year grant period; and, <br />WHEREAS, the deadline for the grant application is April 14, 2009. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council <br />does hereby authorize staff to proceed with a grant application to the Department of <br />Justice COPS Hiring Recovery Grant Program, requesting an award for one new Police <br />Officer. <br />Adopted this 13th day of April, 2009. <br />.., <br />J herty; <br />ATTEST: <br />GL'YYI.Q,C) ~ <br />James Ericson, City Administrator <br />
