CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />OFFICE OF THE MAYOR <br />PROCLAMAT/ON <br />WHEREAS, in 2007, after a second failed street project, the City Council <br />established a taskforce of residents to review the City's assessment policy, <br />project financing and to formulate a standard street design; and, <br />WHEREAS, more than thirty residents volunteered their time and efforts <br />on the streets taskforce, and after a year of intense work, the taskforce <br />formulated a set of recommendations which were presented to the community <br />and City Council for their consideration; and, <br />WHEREAS, The Council ultimately adopted every recommendation <br />submitted, which resulted in an innovative nine-project, ten-year program to <br />replace all substandard City streets and utilities, without ANY direct assessment <br />to the residents; and <br />WHEREAS, in recognition of this extraordinary effort, in December of <br />2009, American City and County recognized the City of Mounds View as <br />"America's Crown Community", just one of eleven cities or counties nationwide to <br />be thusly designated. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that, I, Joe Flaherty, Mayor of the <br />City Mounds View, do hereby proclaim January 12, 2010, as <br />AMERICA'S CROWN COMMUNITY DAY <br />And hereby express my sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who were <br />involved in the streets taskforce process. <br />Given under my hand and Seal of the City of Mounds View, this 11th day of <br />January, 2010. <br />oe F a , <br />(seal) <br />
