12. Serve as animal control officers for the city, as defined in City Code, and as applicable <br />to the operation of the animal shelter. <br />13. Impounded quarantined animals shall be held for rabies observation for a maximum of <br />10 days. If no owner comes forward with full payment within the 10 day period, then <br />said animal becomes property of the animal shelter to do with as they feel necessary. <br />14. Animal shelter shall collect any impound fees for the city and deduct the total from the <br />monthly fee. <br />III. CITY RESPONSIBILITY <br />After normal business hours, the city will transport any injured animals that are in a life <br />threatening condition to the Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Services, at no cost to the <br />animal shelter. After treatment and release the city will transport the animal to the <br />animal shelter. <br />IV. COMPLIANCE WITH LAWS <br />In providing all services pursuant to this contract, the animal shelter shall abide by all <br />statutes, ordinances, rules and regulations pertaining to or regulating the provisions of <br />such services <br />V. AUDIT DISCLOSURE AND RETENTION OF RECORDS <br />The animal shelter agrees to make available to duly authorized representatives of the city <br />and either the legislative auditor or the state auditor for the purpose of audit <br />examination, any books, documents, papers, and records of the animal shelter that are <br />pertinent to the animal's provision of service hereunder. The animal shelter further <br />agrees to maintain all such required records for three years after receipt of final payment <br />from the owner of the animal and the closing of all other related matters as determined <br />by the animal shelter. <br />VI. ANIMAL SHELTER RESPONSIBILITIESAND INSURANCE <br />The animal shelter shall be responsible for all damages, harm or illness suffered by the <br />animals under its care and in its custody which may be due to the negligence of the <br />animal shelter. Said animal shelter shall save the city harmless from any damages, costs, <br />actions, or causes or action, or claims made against the city for any harm, losses, <br />damages, or expenses or account of bodily injury, sickness, disease, improper <br />disposition, death, and property damage resulting from the animal shelter's operation. <br />The animal shelter shall procure and keep in full force comprehensive general liability <br />insurance in the amount of not less than $100,000 each occurance and $350,000 general <br />aggregate to safeguard and indemnify the city for any of the occurrences <br />aforementioned. Such insurance policy must be filed with the city clerk. <br />VII. COMPENSATION <br />
