Maunds View City Council May 14, 2007 <br />Regular Meeting Page 13 <br />• <br />Mayor Marty listed everything included with the $19,500 price for the asphalt patcher. <br />Director Lee indicated that the triple insulating would require the use of less propane. <br />Council Member Mueller asked if the City still needs to go doum to pick up the asphalt or if this <br />would give the City the ability to heat it up. <br />Director Lee indicated that they should not have anything to heat up here as it maintains heat and <br />it can all be used up. He then said that one person goes down and picks up the product and the <br />rest of the crew meets them at the job site. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Flaheriy. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7067, <br />Approving the Purchase of a Spaulding RMV Hot Patcher/Asphalt Recycler Unit. <br />Council Member Flaherty thanked Staff for the information in the report. He then said that he <br />was not aware of the waste of asphalt since it was cooling down and could not be used. <br />Council Member Stigney asked how the asphalt will be compacted. <br />Director Lee said that they have a roller. <br />• Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />N. Resolution 7054, Approving the Purchase of a Frost Breaker <br />Public Works Director Lee explained that there are between six and twelve watermain breaks per <br />year and they usually occur during the winter months. This requires breaking through the frost to <br />get to the watermain break. This piece of equipment would be attached to a piece of equipment <br />to break through the frost and allow for repair of the watermain. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Flaherty. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7054, <br />Approving the Purchase of a Frost Breaker. <br />Ayes - S Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />O. Resolution 7066, Approving the Purchase of a Replacement Trim Mower for <br />the Parks Division <br />Public Works Director Lee explained that the City does have a trim mower that is approximately <br />six years old but the City mechanic has looked at it and recommends replacement as the mower <br />deck is warped and there are issues with the PTO driveshaft and other items to be replaced. Staff <br />• recommends replacement of the mower based on the recommendations of the mechanic. <br />
