Mounds View City Council June 11, 2007 <br />Regular Meeting Page 15 <br />~ Mayor Marty noted that Festival in the Park is coming soon. He then thanked those that worked <br />in the dunk tank to raise funds toward the Festival. <br />B. Reports of Staff <br />1. Police Department 1 St Quarter 2007 Report <br />Chief Sommer reviewed his first quarter report with Council. <br />Council Member Flaherty said that the department has used 82% of the budget for overtime, <br />Finance Director Beer indicated that in the past Staff has reported weekly over time but also <br />included is holiday overtime. He then said that they will work with the Chief on that. <br />Mayor Marty asked whether any of this would be recoverable through fines or citations or <br />anything. <br />Councii Member Flaherty said that he is glad to see that the officers are receiving training. <br />Council Member Mueller asked how many cameras there are in the City helping with <br />surveillance. <br />• Chief Sommer indicated that there are two currently and they have ordered a thixd. <br />Council Member Mueller asked about forfeiture. <br />Chief Somrner indicated that there is a course that he is going to attend. <br />Chief Sommer indicated that they wi11 be participating in the Torch Run for the Special <br />Olympics and it goes through the City on June 21, 2007. <br />Mayor Marty said that since the first of the year residents have come in to complain about <br />various matters and he thinks that the Department, Chief and the Officers are doing an excellent <br />job on behalf of the City. He then said that he has received calls from the Pinewood School <br />area residents who are grateful that parking has been better in that area. <br />Council Member Mueller mentioned that the Mounds View Matters July/August Edition is out. <br />If you would like to volunteer at the Festival in the Park celebration there is information on <br />volunteering in it. The winning entry of the Design a T-Shirt Contest was Noelle Manicka and <br />her design will be sent to the printer to be put on the t-shirts. <br />Mayor Marty asked if there was any further research into offering City shirts or sweatshirts <br />available. <br />~ City Administrator Ulrich indicated that Staff is gathering quotes and samples for consideration. <br />
