Resolution 7137, Resolution Authorizing the Mounds View Police <br />Department to Enter into a Grant Agreement with the Minnesota <br />Department of Public Safety, Offce of Traffic Safety for the Sale and Sober <br />Project from October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008 <br />Chief Sommer explained that this is a renewal of the grant agreement that shares in payment for <br />additional enforcement time. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Flaherty. To Waive the Reading and Approve Resolution 7137, <br />Resolution Authorizing the Mounds View Police Department to Enter into a Grant <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. • <br />G. Introduction and First Reading of Ordinance 796, an Ordinance <br />Implementing a Franchise Fee on Center Point Energy Natural Gas <br />Operations wi~hin the City of Mounds View for the Year 2008 <br />Finance Director Beer explained that the Franchise Fee Ordinance sunsets in December every <br />year and, if so desired, Council must approve a new Ordinance each year. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Introduce Ordinance 796, an <br />Ordinance Implementing a Franchise Fee on Center Point Energy Natural Gas Operations Within <br />the City of Mounds View for the Year 2008. <br />Council Member Flaherty asked Staff to explain where the fees go. <br />Finance Director Beer indicated that 50% of the franchise fees go toward street improvements <br />and 50% are used for paying for services in the general fund. <br />Ayes - 5 Nays - 0 Motion carried. <br />u <br />
