Mounds View City Council November 13, 2007 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br />S 2. Review Charter Commission Correspondence <br />Interim City Administrator Ericson explained that the Charter Commission has asked that <br />Council review the letter relating to charter language for potential changes or clarifications. <br />Interim Administrator Ericson reviewed the language concerns with the Council. <br />Council agreed to a joint meeting or work session with the Charter Commission to discuss the <br />issues raised. <br />3. Police Department Quarterly Report <br />Chief Sommer reviewed the statistical information from his quarterly repart. <br />Council Member Mueller asked where the gun safety course was held. <br />Chief Sommer said he was not sure if it was at City Hall or the Community Center but said that <br />12 to 15 students attended. <br />Council Member Mueller asked Staff to put information in the Mounds View Matters on the <br />spring training. She then asked Staff to post the police information on fhe website. <br />Council Member Flaherly indicated that there was a spike in DWI arrests and he is wondering <br />~ what that is attributed to. <br />Chief Sommer indicated that this is due to additional training and enforcement and an increased <br />emphasis on the serious' issue with drinking and driving. <br />4. Finance Department Quarterly Report <br />Financ~ Director Beer provided an overview of the quarterly financial report for Council. <br />Council Nlernber Mueller asked about residential property taxes and what happens to those on <br />homes that are vacant or foreclosed upon. <br />Finance Director Beer expiained that no taxes are paid until the home is sold and the ta~es caught <br />up. <br />5. Library Fiber Optic <br />Finance Director Beer explained that the up front money was able to be increased to $8,500. <br />Staff provided a draft of the agreement for Council review. <br />Acting Mayor Stigney indicated that he feels that the increase should be changed annually. <br />~ <br />
