Mayor and Council
Mayor Marty noted that Active Living Ramsey County is seeking participation of communities
within the County to participate in monthly meetings. They are preparing an application for
money for benches along the corridor trails. He then asked Staff to make sure that the Resolution
comes to Council so that can get going.
Mayor Marty asked who is assigned to clean the Community Center, after weekend events,
because the YMCA Staff does not have very many employees, and one female employee had to
haul out 10 loads of trash late at night, and that can be a safety issue that should not be
happening. Mayor Marty asked Staff to look into that issue.
Mayor Marty indicated that he and Council Member Mueller went to Penny Pincher's Grand Re-
Opening. The store is twice as big now and nicer inside.
Mayor Marty thanked Paster Enterprises for taking on an expansion and greatly improving •
Mounds View Square.
Council Member Mueller reported that the Ninth Grade Class at Irondale High School is taking
on a citizenship project. One group took on the project of the Community Center and they
provided her a three page letter with the great ideas for the Community Center.
Council Member Mueller indicated that one interesting thing was that they surveyed 181 students
at the school, and one of the ideas those students came up with was to sell the Community Center
to a company that could put money into the facility, if the Ciry cannot afford to do so. Of the
students surveyed, 61 thought that a fitness center would be nice.
B. Reports of Staff
1. Reminder - Cancellation of December 26, 2007 Meeting
2.
