TO REPAIR THE <br />FUEL PUMPING STATION AND TANK MONITOR UNIT AT THE PUBLIC WORKS <br />FACILITY <br />WHEREAS, the City owns a diesel fueling station located at the Public Works <br />Facility comprised of a 3,000-gallon underground tank, pumping station; and tank <br />monitoring system; and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) mandates <br />monitoring of all underground fuel tanks to detect fuel leakage from the tank; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's fueling station is in need of repairs to comply with MPCA <br />mandates, including an inoperable tank monitoring unit and a severely deteriorated <br />pumping station; and <br />WHEREAS, the City solicited and received two quotes ranging from $5,780.14 to <br />$6,734.09 by qualified vendors to perform said repairs; and <br />WHEREAS, Pump and Meter Services, Inc of Hopkins, Minnesota submitted the <br />lowest total combined quote in the amount of $5,780.14; and <br />WHEREAS, monies for the repairs were not included in the adopted 2010 budget <br />but will be funded by various Public Works division accounts since the fueling station is <br />utilized by all Public Works divisions. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Mounds <br />View, Ramsey County, Minnesota as follows: <br />1. The City hereby accepts the total combined quote proposal of $5,780.14 <br />submitted by Pump and Meter Service, Inc. of Hopkins, Minnesota for repairs <br />to the fuel pumping station and tank monitor unit at the Public Works Facility. <br />2. City staff is directed to prepare an independent contractor agreement between <br />the City of Mounds View and Pump and Meter Service, Inc. for $5,780.14. <br />3. Upon satisfactory review of the agreement by the City Attorney, the City <br />Administrator and Mayor are hereby authorized and directed, for and on behalf <br />of the City, to execute and enter into an independent contractor agreement <br />with Pump and Meter Service, Inc for said repairs. <br />4. Payment for repair work shall be funded equally by various Public Works division <br />fund accounts for a total amount not to exceed $6,070, which includes a 5% <br />contingency for other repairs that may be needed and discovered during the repair <br />work. <br />
