9 day of January <br />Attest: <br />Village Clerk <br />RESOLUTION NO. 277 <br />those voting against: NONE <br />VILLAGE OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION CONCURRING WITH THE OBJECTIVES OF THE MINNESOTA <br />ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY. <br />Member Johnson moved the following: <br />WHEREAS, a modern zoological garden is deemed vital to the cultural, <br />recreational, education and economic future of the Twin Cities metropolitan area <br />and the State of Minnesota and <br />WHEREAS, there is not now a modem zoo facility in the Twin Cities <br />metropolitan area or the State of Minnesota, and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Zoological Soc#Xy, a private, non profit <br />Minnesota corporation, has proposed to establish a major zoological garden in and <br />for Minnesota on a 140 acre tract of land in the Battle Creek Park area, lying <br />within Upper and Lower Afton roads, McKnight Road and the extension of Ruth Street <br />in the Village of Maplewood, <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the Village of Mounds View does hereby <br />approve and concur with the objectives of the Minnesota Zoological Society as they <br />have been endorsed and approved by the Citizens League, namely the establishment of a <br />zoo planned, located and developed to serve the entire Metropolitan area and the <br />State of Minnesota at the above mentioned site. <br />Member Malvin seconded the resolution. <br />Those voting in favor: Rustad, Walser, Malvin,Johnson and Lang <br />whereupon the Mayor declared that the resolution was duly adopted this <br />1967. <br />Mayor <br />
