RESOLUTION NO. cYA <br />VILLAGE OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />A RESOLUTION COVERING PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE EMPLOYEES <br />IN THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />FOR THE YEAR 1968. <br />The following resolution was moved by Member R d as follows: <br />ARTICLE I <br />Seniority <br />Section 1. A policy of Seniority shall be formulated that will give <br />permanent employees with longer periods of service an opportunity for promotion <br />and also give all employees a feeling of security. <br />Section 2. New employees shall be on a six -month probationary period. <br />Section 3. There shall be a seniority list established which shall include <br />the Maintenance Department based on their original date of hire. <br />Section 4. In the event of lay off due to lack of work, permanent employees <br />with the least seniority shall be the first to be laid off, and in the event of <br />rehire the last employee laid off shall be the first to be rehired. <br />Section 5. In the event of a job opening, the job shall be announced by <br />buiia+-in and the oldest permanent qualifying employee shall be given first opportunity <br />to step up for promotion. <br />Section 6. Permanent employees shall not be reduced in pay scale when <br />assigned work of a lower classification. Employees performing work of a higher <br />pay classification shall receive the wage scale prevailing for the higher classification <br />according to Article VIII, Section 3. <br />Section 7. No permanent employee shall be laid off out of turn on the <br />seniority list. <br />Section 8. In the event of discharge, the employee or his representative <br />shall be entitled to a hearing before the Village Council. This hearing shall take <br />place within fifteen (15) calendar days of discharge date upon the request of the <br />employee or his representative. If it is then determined that the employee has been <br />unjustly discharged, he shall be reinstated at once and all wages and other benefits <br />lost during his time off shall be credited to him. <br />
