ATT j E ST: <br />A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT THE NECESSARY STEPS BE TAKEN TO <br />TREAT SPRING LAKE FOR ITCH PRODUCING ORGANISMS <br />WHEREAS, Spring Lake is a very popular and much utilized body of water <br />which serves a very large area of Ramsey and Anoka Counties; and <br />WHEREAS, Spring Lake has been heavily used not only for recreational <br />swimming, but for the teaching of swimming; and <br />WHEREAS, the use of Spring Lake has been limited in the past few years <br />because of the presence therein of a certain type of parasite that causes <br />irritation to the skin and an itch; and <br />WHEREAS, the future of said lake will be very bleak unless steps are <br />taken to eradicate the itch producing organisms; and <br />WHEREAS, it is now possible and practicable to treat Spring Lake for the <br />condition existing; and <br />WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of conservation and of the well- <br />being of this entire area that Spring Lake be protected and preserved, <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: <br />1. That the Lakeside Park Commission be urged and is hereby requested to take <br />the steps necessary to treat Spring Lake. <br />2. That the State Department of Conservation and the Counties of Anoka and <br />Ramsey, be requested to contribute financially and to aid and assist in any way <br />possible in the treatment of Spring Lake. <br />3. That the Clerk be directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the <br />Lakeside Park Commission, the Village Council of the Village of Spring Lake Park, <br />the County of Anoka, the County of Ramsey, and the Department of Conservation of <br />the State of Minnesota. <br />Passed unaminously this 9th day of March, 1970. <br />Dennis S.
