-2- <br />000035 <br />Minutes of Village Council Meeting March 27th, 1961 <br />Motion by Hodges to accept minutes as corrected. Seconded by <br />Malvin. 5 Ayes. <br />A cut -off date for Objectors to the proposed street plan was sat <br />for April 10th, 1961. <br />Petitions from the floor for new street lights at Jackson and <br />Bronson, Jackson and Groberg St., and Spring Lake Road and Bronson <br />were referred to Mel Christensen. <br />A question was brought up regarding the fact that the Clerk did <br />not have the Village bffice open early enough for the taking of <br />Petitions regarding the Airport Expansion on the evening of February <br />15th. <br />The C1er! was apparently at fault in the matter. <br />The Recreation Committee report was given by Mr. Hodges. Work to <br />be done in playgrounds are as follows! god Oakwood, Hillview and <br />Greenfield Parks. Install water at ell four Village Parks. <br />Fire Prevention Sub Committee report read by Crane -copy on file) <br />Clerk to send notices to local papers regarding Burning Ordinance. <br />Clerk to notify Attorney to check with Insurance Underwriters to <br />obtain lower Fire Insurance rates. <br />Civil Defense Committee meeting report read by Crane. <br />Motion by Crane to have Village participate in Bloodmobile <br />program. Seconded by Malvin. 5 Ayes. <br />Motion by Crane to increase Civil Defense Director's expense <br />allowance to $30.00 per month starting April 1, 1961. Seconded by <br />Blanchard. 5 Ayes. <br />Police Report for February, 1961 was read by Crane.(Copy on file). <br />Dog Catoherts (B E Patrol) report for February 1961 was <br />submitted to Council (on file in Police Office). <br />The Civil Defense Organization was asked if they would burn tall <br />grass and weeds near buildings in the Village to form fire breaks as <br />a safety measure. Mr. Ballenger, C.D. Director stated that they would <br />do this, after a survey was made and at the Council's direction. <br />Motion by Crane to pay bills presented (list attached) including <br />the one for the new Police Car. Seconded by Malvin. 5 Ayes. <br />The Clerk read thte Notices concerning Condemnation of buildings <br />at the following addresses: 8247 Spring Lake Rd., 8384 Groveland Rd., <br />and 8430 Eastwood Road. <br />Motion by Christenson to set Public Hearing on Condemnation <br />Proceedings at 8:00 P.M., May 8th, 1961. Seconded by Malvin. 5 Ayes. <br />The Clerk was instructed to send a letter to Mr. J.P. Melberg, <br />3717 Abbot Avenue North, Minneapolis requesting written authorization <br />to have the Fire Department burn a building he owns at Rice Creek and <br />S.T.H. 10. <br />
