3 000053 Proceedings of Village Council hooting hay 8th, 1961 The second Hearing concerned the premises located at 8384 Groveland toad, its owner Ludwig Bang present at the Hearing asked if he could maI<l a garage out of this structure. It was the opinion of the Building Inspector that this would not be safe. Motion by Hodges, Seconded by Malvin that Mr. Bang remove this building within thirty days. 4 Ayes for approval. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by the Administrative Clerk. Motion by Hodges, seconded by Malvin to approve minutes as read. 4 Ayes for approval. rayor Crane read a letter from Mrs. Betty Wall, Village Represent ative and Board member of the North Suburban Hospital District re- questing Five Hundred Dolilars (500.00). Mr. Kinne, District Chair- man explained that six of the eight Village of the District had contributed. Motion by Crane, Seconded by Malvin to contribute Five Hundred Dollars (500.00) to the N.S.H.D. 4 Ayes for approval. The Mayor asked if there were any particular problems or questions from those in attendance, The fire problem and the present fire hazard in large open fieldswas extensively discussed. The Mayor suggested that cooperation from other neighbors and specific help from the Village Civil Defense Organization should be sought. The drainage problem from the Babinski property was discussed. The Village Council and Engineer have this problem under study. Mr. Melvin G. Johnson of 5120 No. Highway 10 reported about his particular problem with the Highway Department. Mr. Johnson was asked to attend a Special meeting with the Council and the Highway Department. The grading and surfacing of Gloria Circle was brought up. The Mayor instructed the Clerk to write a letter to Mr. Dalberg for in- formation regarding a Five Hundred Dollar ($00.00) Bond. The Public Safety report was given by the Mayor. He read the Police report for April. The recommendations fo the Police Commission were read. Recommendations were: Number 1: request the County to reduce the speed limit from 40 to 30 miles per hour on Co. Rd. H -2 between Highway 8 and Highway 10. Motion by Hodges, seconded by Malvin to accept these reports and to concur with the recommendations. 4 Ayes for approval. Recommendation Number 2: To have the County install a Stop Sign on Fairchild and Sherwood. Motion by Crane, Seconded by Melvin. 4 Ayes for approval. Recommendation Number 3: Arrange to have street signs on the list from the Police Department corrected. Since there was no objection. Mayor Crane directed the Public Works Supt. to correct appropriate signs. Civil Defense Director Kenneth Ballenger reported that a voluntary vehicle safety check wailed "Circle of Safety" would take placo at the Pinewood School, Co. Rd. I and 'Zuincy St. on May 24th and 25th. The Director stated that the Police Dept. would not participate in this safety check. Ten safety features will be checked. The Mayor urged all citizens to participate. He directed the Clerk to help with Clerical work involved and advertising for this C.D. endeavor.
