5 000055 <br />Proceedings of the Village Council May 8th, 1961 <br />The Engineer reported that the low bid on the Street Improvement <br />1961 -1 that was read during the meeting was the A.H. Construction <br />Co. of St. Paul and he recommended this Company be awarded the Contract <br />with the understanding the completion date be in compliance with the <br />Contract. Motion by Christensen, Seconded by Malvin to concur in <br />this recommendation. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />Attorney's Report; Mr. Meyers reported that the bill from <br />Public Employee's Retirement Association representing the Employer's <br />share be paid. This covers the period of 1958 -1959. He presented <br />a Contract from Ramsey County for care of prisoners from Mounds View. <br />Motion by Crane, seconded by Hodges that the Village enter into a <br />Contract with Ramsey County conmrning the care of prisoners. 4 Ayes <br />for approval. <br />There was some discussion about Water Lines with the St. Paul <br />Water Dept., Mayor Crane directed the Engineer and Attorney to draft <br />an agreement for future projects. <br />The Attorney brought up the matter of the appointment of an <br />Assistant Assessor. The importance would be to have a vote on the <br />Board of Equalization. The Mayor asked for Volunteers, none came <br />forward; therefore the appointment was postponed until the next <br />meeting. <br />The Attorney recommended that the Village pay their proportionate <br />share of Weed Notice Publication for 1961. Motion by Crane, Seconded <br />by Hodges to concur. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />The Attorney reported on the following Resolution #15- 4 -12A, <br />Vending Machine and Soft Drink proposal's for Ordinances. <br />The Attorney presented a Mortgage paper and a Mortgage note for <br />the Mayor and Clerk to sign to enter into with Mr. Foley. Motion by <br />Crane, Seconded by Hodges to authorize the Village to enter into <br />this Mortgage Contract with Foley for their property North East of <br />Highway 10 and Long Lake Road. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />Mayor Crane reported on a,convesakion with Senator Westin <br />during which the Senatbi. called Mouncid View a "silly little Village <br />The Mayor read a carefully worded letter addressed to Senator Westin. <br />Mel Christensen explained that Westin's remark probably was the re- <br />sult of the Village stand on the Sanitary Sewer issue in the State <br />Legislature. Motion by Malvin seconded by Hodges to endorse this <br />letter and have a copy sent to Senator Westin. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />Clerk's report was given by Paul Doug, Administrative Deputy <br />Clerk, who discussed the procedures to be used as well as the supplies <br />and equipment needed for the Village water billing. <br />Motion by Christensen, Seconded by Crane that tho Clerk be <br />authorized to purchase.billing cupplioe needed for the water billing <br />and a used Addressograph machine for One Hundred and Fifty Dollars <br />0150,00) be bought. 4 Ayes for approval. <br />The Clerk reported that Mrs. Kish would leave Juno 2nd and that <br />a replacement would be needed. Motion by Malvin, seconded by Hodges <br />that the Clerk be authorized to take applications for a Clerk typist. <br />4 Ayes for approval. <br />
