STATEMENT ON LIQUOR LICENSING -BY P. MALVIN Over the years that I have served as a Councilman for our Village, I have had many opportunities to listen to a number of requests for liquor licenses. Apparently we will receive more requests in the future since the Village is authorized to issue one or two more on -sale liquor licenses. As you know, the issues of wet versus dry, and private licensing versus Municipal sales, have been resolved years ago in our Village. The only question left in my mind when an application is submitted to the Council is "'!hat value will this proposal be to the Village as a whole If the applicant or the proposed location would pose problems for the Village, then 1 will not vote approval under any circumstances. On the other hand, if the applicant and his proposed business would be a credit to the Village and I am sure that the location involved would not hurt the neighborhood, then I would be inclined to vote approval. However, there is one more point I would like to make. I, as an individual Councilman, cannot set policy for the whole Council. But, it is my feeling that with the location that our Village has next to Interstate Frec -viay #35, that with our remaining licenses we should be able to attract applicants
