-5- <br />January 27, 1975 <br />Administrator Achen noted the starting salary for the r- °obationary <br />public works maintenance man is $944.00 per month. He also <br />presented a staff recommendation to terminate Charles Coldren, <br />because he has missed two of the nine working days since he was <br />hired and has not had satisfactory excuses. <br />MS (Johnson- Pickar) To terminate Charles Coldren effective, in <br />accordance with the personnel ordinance, as soon as possible. <br />Councilman Hodges asked if there would be eligible candidates <br />for the position from the previous applications. <br />Administrator Achen stated that we received well ove a hundred <br />applications and that several good candidates ale available from <br />these. <br />MSP (Johnson Hodges) To amend the original motion to state that <br />before Cold =ti is terminated he be given an opportunity to resign. <br />Original motion passed as amended. <br />5 Ayes <br />Mayor Johnson asked for residents' requests and comments from <br />the floor, and there were none. <br />Lois Pollari, representii.; the Ramsey County Bicentennial Commiss- <br />ion o.~ re a presentation tc chc council. She stated the Bicentenn- <br />ial :elebration is an organi .t3 os to help cities with the <br />Bicentennial Celebration,the purpose of which is to reaffirm the <br />revolutionary principle of change for the sake of vitally impor- <br />tant human values. She suggested a nine to twenty -one number <br />commission be established for the City :,f Mounds View. She <br />suggested appointees be representative of service, civic and <br />social organization and ii.1.=;:ested individuals. <br />She noted that some state and federal monies are avail ble, but <br />the Commission encourages local fund raising projects a ::d solici- <br />tation of donations from private companies and firms in th4 -ea. <br />A major goal of the Celebration is to encourage involvement ct <br />the community. <br />Mayor Johnson thanked Mrs. Pollari and asked that interested persons <br />be suggested fo appointment to a local Bicentennial commission. <br />Mayor Johnson made note that Ramey County Commissioner Robert <br />Orth had been invited to the ageiaa meeting of February 3, 1975. <br />Administrator Achen reported on the Ramsey County proposed snow- <br />mobile ordinance. <br />.Mayor Johnson stated it is parallel is what Mounds View now has. <br />Councilman Baumgartner stated there are some differences between <br />the ordinances such as pennant size, speed limit and operator age. <br />:..c cundc View Snowmobile Club helped write our present ordinance <br />and he feels they should consider this ordinance too. He requested <br />a copy of the county ordinance be sent to Jack Warren of the Snow- <br />
