A regular meeting of Mounds View City Council was called to order by <br />Mayor Johnson on September 8, 1975, at R:00 p.m. at Mounds View City <br />Hall, 2401 Highway 10, Mounds Viw, Mn. 55112 <br />Present: Mayor Johnson <br />Councilman Hodges <br />Councilman Baumgartner <br />Councilman Shelquist <br />Absent: Councilman Pickar <br />PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />Also Present: Clerk -Adm. Achen <br />Attorney Meyers <br />Engineer Comstock <br />MSP Shelquist- Baumgartner) to approve the minutes of August 25, 1975 <br />with the following corrections. Page 3, after the motion, insert <br />Mayor Johnson reconvened the regular Council meeting. Page 7, after <br />the motion, insert Mayor Johnson reconvened the regular Council meeting. <br />Page 8, paragraph 8, the last sentence should be changed to read <br />overhead to be charged to the "Construction" Fund. Page 9, Councilman <br />Baumgartner's Report, third paragraph should read that a preliminary <br />1976 operating budget has been prepared by Doug Bryant and is ready but <br />Councilman Baumgartner has not presented it to Council yet. Page 11, <br />the motion should be changed to read "proposed 1976 Lakeside Park <br />Commission budget. <br />The Mounds View Park and Recreation Director, Mr. Doug Bryant was in <br />attendance to dispatch the award presentation for the recently held <br />name -a -park contest and for the V.I.P. (volunteer's in the parks) <br />program. The community park along Silver Lake Road and County Road <br />H2 was without a name and the Park and Recreation Commission decided <br />to sponsor a contest for community youth to essay in giving the park <br />a name. Mr. Bryant reported that there were over 450 participants, <br />nine first place winners, and five runner ups. The title winner was <br />"Silverview Mayor Johnson presented a certificate of award and a <br />five dollar gift certificate to each of the nine first place winners <br />and a certificate of award and a two dollar gift certificate to the <br />five runner ups. He also presented awards to Julie LaVaque, Mary <br />Parker and Dawn Noyes for their volunteer work this past summer in <br />conjection with the Park and Recreation Department's summer playground <br />program. <br />Mayor Johnson on behalf of the residents of Mounds View and the City <br />Council thanked each and everyone of the participants for their <br />contribution to the park and recreation program and for their interest <br />in the City. <br />4 Ayes <br />MSP (Johnson- Baumgartner) to adopt Resolution No. 686 officially naming <br />the new park "Silverview Community Park 4 Ayes <br />Mr. Robert Waste spoke on behalf of the Mounds View Lion's request <br />for a special use permit to operate a used car flea market at the <br />Launching Pad parking lot on Sundays. <br />
