MOUNDS VIEW CITY COUNCIL Regular Meeting <br />Page Two July 28, 1980 <br />Councilmember Rowley posed concerns about extending <br />the City's financial support at this time. She <br />stated it was her understanding at the last meeting <br />that the City of Mounds View would first get an indica- <br />tion of other cities support of the issue before stating <br />any financial commitments. <br />Rowley made a motion, seconded by Forslund, to adopt <br />Resolution #1128, waiving the reading, and omitting <br />the last paragraph which read Be it further resolved <br />that the City Council of the City of Mounds View hereby <br />extends the City support in the areas of formal endorse- <br />ment and possible future financial support for any legal <br />endeavors the Cities of Eagan and Brooklyn Center may <br />encounter." <br />Ayes -4 <br />Nays -0 <br />Ayes -4 <br />Nays -0 <br />THE MOTION WAS CARRIED. <br />Council directed Staff to send copies of the resolution <br />and Mounds View's current ordinance on drug paraphernalia <br />to the cities of Burnsville, Eagan, and Brooklyn Center <br />and ask them to keep Mounds View aware of any further <br />developments. <br />Mayor McCarty indicated that this meeting had to be 7. ITEM #L- CONSENT AGENDA <br />changed to August 18, 7:00 P.M., at the Council's <br />agenda session. <br />McCarty made a motion, seconded by Ziebarth, to change <br />the meeting date with George M. Hanson (for reviewal <br />of the 1980 audit report) to August 18, 1980, at <br />7:00 P.M. <br />THE MOTION WAS CARRIED. <br />Police: (Tim Ramacher) <br />-No formal report (monthly report covers the <br />police activity) <br />Slightly over budget after 6 months (54%) because <br />of purchase of new squad car and contribution to Youth <br />Service Bureau but expect to be within the total budget <br />by the end of the year. <br />Finance: (Donald Brayer) <br />-Aside from normal activities, the department has <br />hired a new accountant, they are working on the audit report, <br />they have begun working on the budgetary and long term finan- <br />cial plans. <br />58,000 was saved by going with a local insurance agent <br />for the City Transcontinental Brokers. <br />-There is a new night depository at the City Hall (to the <br />left of the front entrance). <br />-The responsibility for the elections operation has been <br />given to the Finance Department (because of the absence of a <br />clerk- administrator). <br />6.
