TO: Clerk Administrator Pauley <br />FROM: Public Works Superintendent Decheine <br />DATE: August 28, 1981 <br />RE: CRACK FILLING STREETS <br />LD /ds <br />In previous years the Public Works Department crack filled the streets <br />with CR -2 bituminous material that came in 50 lb. kegs and had to be heated <br />before applying it. That type of material was not staying in the cracks <br />and was not providing the type of seal we were looking for, plus it required <br />seven men to apply that type of material. This year we used A.C. fine to <br />fill the cracks. This is the first year we have used A.C. fine and it <br />required'only four men to apply it. The same type of mix is being used by <br />the State, County and other cities. <br />After inspecting the streets I see no problem with using this mix or with it <br />holding water or having any had effect on the ,.now plowing. <br />
