PAGE 4 <br />equipment. Also, we need to provide for eventual replacement of these <br />structures and equipment. The Metropolitan Council and other special interest <br />coups are now actively promoting, before the State Legislature, the expansion <br />of Anoka County Airport. We need to further enlist the aid of neighboring <br />communities to counter this threat to the peace of mind of our citizens and <br />to orderly community development as well. Recently, an informal committee has <br />been organized to oppose airport expansion which is made up of interested <br />public officials and citizens from the surrounding area. I suggest that <br />communities in the area now be approached for endorsement of the committee <br />and its purposes. <br />To sum up, I feel we have made good progress in recent years, both <br />in the specifics of municipal operations and in laying the ground work for a <br />consensus on future directions for the city, 'which will enable us to meet the <br />challenges ahead. On a personal note it is my intention to work with the <br />rious organizations which are active in City affairs, as well working <br />within municipal government, to promote the consensus I see developing on <br />future directions for Mounds View. <br />
