Mounds View City Council April 9, 19 <br />Regular Meeting Page Eleven <br />Motion /Second: McCarty /Blanchard to authorize the <br />City /Administrator to hire Brian D. Hoffman at a <br />rate of $9.00 per hour as a temporary, full -time <br />employee in the position of civil engineer technician. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley explained the $2 per hour <br />difference in salary would cover the necessary ex- <br />penses for Mr. Hoffman, but would not cover health <br />insurance. <br />Mayor McCarty reviewed the history of why a co- counsel <br />was sought. <br />Motion /Second: McCarty /Doty to authorize entering <br />into the agreement with Grant Merritt. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley reported the Finance <br />Director will have to go through the budget to deter- <br />mine where the funds will come from. <br />Motion: Hankner to amend the previous motion to add <br />that it is contingent upon identification of funds by <br />the City Council. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Councilmember Doty had no report. <br />Councilmember Linke had no report. <br />Councilmember Hankner had no report. <br />Councilmember Blanchard reported that the Planning <br />Commission, at their April 4 meeting, asked that <br />the City contact Frank Kampel to see if he would <br />be willing to attend the controversial rezonings <br />scheduled for May and June. She added that the <br />entire Planning Commission plans on attending. <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley explained the funds could <br />come from the unexpended salary fund for the <br />Community Development department. <br />Motion Carried <br />Attorney Meyers reviewed the proposed agreement with 13. Report of <br />Grant Merritt, to act as co- counsel in the Anoka Attorney <br />County /Blaine Airport expansion, to specifically <br />provide expertise in environmental questions.
