Mounas View City Cc.:ncil <br />Regular Meeting <br />chairman Mountin explained the public was invited to <br />Meetings during the Wuornos process. She added they <br />nave nothing to present to the public, and that what <br />they are presenting to the Council is their findings <br />of their review of the Wuornos study. She added the <br />residents were not in favor of intensified development. <br />Councilmember Hankner stated she was concerned with <br />the Planning Commission's findings and whether they <br />represented the thoughts of the rest of the community. <br />Chairman Mountin stated the Planning Commission is <br />not happy with having a strip, but they are stuck <br />with it and must find a workable solution for the <br />area. She stated she feels the best way is to <br />educate the community through the newsletter and <br />perhaps fliers, and proposing a planning referendum. <br />Mayor Linke stated they must look at redevelopment <br />and planning for the future, and that is what. the <br />Comp Plan is all about. <br />Chairman Mountin stated they need to establish <br />criteria, and a new set of goals and policies for <br />Highway 10. <br />"ommission Member Forslund stated they would like <br />nput from the Council, and some direction. <br />Mayor Linke stated he would like the Council to <br />make a decision. <br />Councilmember Haake suggested they start out with <br />goals and policies first, and work from there. She <br />stated she would like a hearing set, and notify the <br />residents through the newsletter and so forth, and <br />invite them to come in and voice their opinions. <br />She stated she would like to get their input before <br />making any changes. <br />Mayor Linke stated they need to have more definite <br />plans to present to the residents, not generalities. <br />The Council and Planning Commission reviewed the <br />history of the area and why the study was done. It <br />was acknowledged there is a problem in the area and <br />the Wuornos study has not made anything easier. <br />Chairman Mountin suggested the Planning Commission <br />and Council get together in a wor ':shop setting and <br />discuss where the City is going five, ten and fifteen <br />aars from now. <br />September 8, 1986 <br />Page Six <br />
