Mounds View City Council May 23, 1988 <br />Regular Meeting Page Nine <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley reported there had been a <br />water main break at 7280 Silver Lake Road recently, <br />and a good deal of peat was encountered during the <br />repair. <br />Ric Minetor, Public Works Director, explained <br />what happened with the water main, and he advised <br />the soil borings would be money well spent, as it <br />is much less expensive than going back and repairing <br />houses later. <br />Motion /Second: Quick /Wuori to authorize Short <br />Elliott- Hendrickson, Inc. to prepare plans and specs <br />for the Silver Lake Road sanitary sewer repair at a <br />cost not to exceed $]2,500, and authorize Twin City <br />Testing to perform the soil borings at an additional <br />$4,000 in cost. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley explained the City has <br />been experiencing difficulty in achie,ring acceptable <br />water quality from Water Treatment Plant No. 1, <br />and an analysis needs to be done, which will give <br />them direction on how to proceed. <br />Motion /Second: Hankner /Blanchard to authorize a <br />study of Water Treatment Plant No. 1 by SERCO Labs <br />at a cost not to exceed $3,000. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley read Resolution No. <br />2330 and Resolution No. 2331, commending Gerald <br />Simon and Francis Doll for their 20 years of service <br />to the Fire Department. <br />Motion /Second: Blanchard /Hankner to adopt Resolutions <br />No. 2330 and 2331, commending Gerald Simon and Francis <br />Doll for 20 years of service each to the Fire Department. <br />5 ayes 0 nays <br />Mayor Linke directed Staff to have plaques made, to be <br />presented to both individuals at a future Council <br />meeting. <br />Clerk /Administrator Pauley reported the City has <br />acted as a sponsoring agency for the past three years <br />'for the school district, and they have been requested <br />to do so again. He added there is no cost to the <br />City for this, and the City is merely the sponsoring <br />agency, with no further obligation. <br />Motion Carried <br />16.
